Tourist SpecialistDetailed guidance for unconventional rail logistics.
If a station has no ticket office or machine, you are legally entitled to purchase your ticket on-board the train from the conductor (or machine) without a surcharge. Just ensure you find the staff as soon as you board. Alternatively, use the 'Můj vlak' or 'OneTicket' mobile apps for instant digital validation.
Most regional (Os and Sp) services have a 'Bicycle with Conductor' policy. Look for the bicycle icon on the exterior of the carriage. Some specific peak-hour lines require a prior reservation. A separate bicycle fee applies, usually calculated as a flat distance-based rate.
"NAD" (Náhradní autobusová doprava) is often implemented during repairs. Buses will replace trains for specific segments. Always check the station vitrines for yellow 'Výluka' posters which indicate bus stop locations, which are sometimes located outside the main station forecourt.
Our rail directory is only half the story. To reach UNESCO heritage sites and deep forest trailheads, you often need to pivot to local bus connections.
